Our Board brings together experienced professionals from a range of backgrounds and areas of expertise who are committed to supporting our members and the wider community.
As a member-owned organisation, our Board Directors serve on a voluntary basis, dedicating their time, knowledge and experience to help guide the strategic direction of the Credit Union. Their collective expertise spans a variety of sectors, enabling them to provide effective governance, oversight and leadership.Â
By giving their time and skills, our Board members play a vital role in ensuring that the Credit Union remains financially strong, member-focused and true to its values, while helping to shape its future for the benefit of current and future generations of members.
Tony Denny
Chair
Tony is a passionate advocate for the credit union’s life-changing impact. He lives in Prescot with his young family and has over 20 years of community involvement. Tony also sits on the Staffing Committee and the Succession Committee. Working in the public sector, he brings strong leadership, strategic leadership and commitment to the credit union ethos
Jenny France
Vice Chair
Jenny has served on the Board for eight years and is currently vice chair, Jenny sits on the Internal Audit and Risk Committee. Jenny also sits on the Succession Committee. Working in commercial banking, she brings valuable industry expertise and lives in St Helens.
Julie Delaney-Lynn
Secretary
A Director for 24 years, Julie has played a key role in the credit union’s growth. Julie sits on the Staffing Committee. Now retired from the civil service, she lives in Huyton and remains dedicated to the ongoing success of ECU.
Gary Morley
Treasurer
Gary joined in 2024, bringing over 30 years’ experience in financial services, specialising in risk, compliance, and governance. He is a keen contributor and is totally focused on supporting sustainable growth.
Dr Paul Anthony Jones
Director
With over 30 years in credit unions, Paul is a leading expert in financial inclusion and co-operative research. He lectures at Liverpool John Moores University and serves on the Internal Audit and Risk Committee and the Governance Committee.
Cath Wohlers
Director
Cath joined the Board in 2022 and leads the England Illegal Money Lending Team. Cath is the Consumer Duty Director and is passionate about tackling financial exploitation and improving access to fair financial services. Cath also sits on the Governance Committee.
Mark Campbell
Director
A member for nearly 30 years, Mark returns to the Board with a diverse background in local government, writing, and community work, alongside a strong passion for the credit union. Mark also sits on the Governance Committee.
Paula Skinner
Director
With 39 years in financial services, Paula brings expertise in compliance and governance. A former ECU money adviser, she has a deep understanding of the organisation and its community.
